Posted by: capn_caveman 1 month, 3 weeks agoI'm shopping for a car, and my tree-hugging pals are pushing me to get a Prius. But it seems wasteful to buy a brand-new car, given all the energy that goes into the production process. Wouldn't it be greener to get a certified, pre-owned vehicle with decent gas mileage?

I've heard this argument before, I guess it all really just depends on your perspective - sure the used car has already been "produced" so there's no cost to the environment to make it, but not everyone really counts it in those terms.
